About Search Degree Info
Most of what prospective students read about a college comes from the college. Search Degree Info exists to show you how to check it: whether a school is properly accredited, what its graduates typically earn and owe, whether a program leads to a license in your state, and how many of your existing credits will count.
Our three sections
Checking a School covers accreditation, diploma mills, the different kinds of colleges and the questions to ask admissions staff. Comparing Programs explains degree levels, the College Scorecard and licensure disclosures. Credits and Transfers is for anyone bringing credits or experience with them, including adults going back to finish a degree.
How we research
We work from primary sources: the U.S. Department of Education and its databases, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the Federal Trade Commission, the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, and the College Board and American Council on Education for credit by exam and credit recommendations. We use AI tools to help with research and drafting, and every guide is checked against those sources before it’s published.
What we don’t do
We don’t rank schools, collect your contact details for colleges or accept payment from any school or education company. There are no ads or affiliate links on this site.
