Salford homeless project Coffee4Craig has long been handed a 25-year book to take over the original Woolpack pub in Pendleton, Salford.
The plan is to turn the derelict Nineteen seventies boozer into a community hub for Pendleton, growing free fruit and vegetables for local people to eat.
It was just an ideal for Coffee4Craig organisers Hendrix and Risha Lancaster until the new Salford Area Council Lead Representative for Housing, Councillor Chris Longshaw, signed off on a provisional long lease that may allow them to rally buyers around the project.
“I started out talking to Coffee4Craig at Christmas time last year,” mentioned Councillor Longshaw.
“There have been a number of plans over the years who’ve depicted interest but Coffee4Craig ended up the only organisation in the position to come up with a concrete plan for fundraising to achieve the investment capital they need,” he explained.
